Xtreme drag radial crash in Vegas
holy crap, did anybody see that??? Eric Peterson (Wild Man) i believe they said is his name. got loose, slapped the left wall, after that i think went across and hit the other wall, all with the throttle stuck open, it spun and sat in the middle of the track on fire smoking the tires off. seemed like it sat there for a minute. they said he was awake and talking with the safety crew.
here is a link to a picture of it

easy to arm chair quarter back this...but wasn't the shut off switch hit by the 3rd person arriving on the scene. I'm not sure about the order of operations but I figured that was the first thing to go after.
Not criticizing, just more curious than anything.

Looks like he was locking the front tires up before he hit the wall. Throttle stuck looks like. Who the fuck would want to run up and hit the kill switch on that car. Fuck

looks like the left front tire rolls off the wheel just before he hit the wall.

on a crew like that every one has a job you would think one of the first nes there jobs would of been to hit the kill

I was just past the 60 foot mark in the stands, and as soon as the car kept going after hitting the wall the first time, I knew it was a stuck throttle. But no one expected to see what happened next---it was the craziest thing I have seen at the track in a long time. Everyone in the stands could not believe what they were seeing. When the fire really flared up and Eric was still in the car, everyone was yelling (kill the ignition, get him out, etc). All I could think is what if the car started heading back down the track towards the start line. Pretty crazy.

no pics of the track, but I can tell you there was a massive burn mark near the center line and I would guess close to the 1000' mark.. After the car was removed, the track crew spend lots of time scraping the track trying to smooth the surface..
I'm sure the track will be in great shape this morning..

Damn! Glad he was ok and brave and smart enough to keep the car from going anywhere else. Amazes me how many cars don't have master cutoff switches inside also.
