Travis (CEO's son) took over Cole's possition managing the shop in late summer. He has no prior buisness experience & very limited automotive experience. He's not 'in' to cars like most of us....& has very little interest in them aside from driving them.
Unfortunately he & I don't really see 'eye to eye' on a lot of things. Many, many issues we've had to deal with from pay schedules (or lack there of) to getting the parts needed for a job, or simply knowing what parts go with what car/customer. It seemed only I knew what was going on in the shop. The last straw (for me) was with dealing with 'warranty' issues...I don't like the way he treated a few of our customers & I let him know it. Sure, HCI is a buisness & must bring in income, but our reputation is based on treating the customers well. After all, without customers, HCI would close it's doors. I try to look at it from a customers perspective.....not just a buisness perspective. Sometimes in buisness you must bend over backwards in order to take care of problem customers....even if it not your fault.
Given all this....I felt it was time to move on. The oportunity with Jeff I simply couldn't pass up.
In the end I hope HCI stays open & does well. I simply wasn't 'fitting in' anymore since I wasn't going to follow (IMO) bad buisness practices.
Oddly enough I've been offered a job at HCI if I ever want one.
In the end, buisness is buisness.....despite personality conflicts.

yea that commute depending what part of Sac your coming from does suck, lucky for me I only make it 2 times a week. 130 miles from my door step to my moms in sunnyvale, 2hrs. I've also done the early morning drive to work, can't leave any later than 5am as so I don't hit the bay area traffic.
Sounds like jeff needs a bigger shop.

Wait... if Jeff isn't touching the cars, then who is doing the tuning?

Jeff is doing the tuning still.....for now.
He's training me on the SCT software, then I fly out to get advanced training. Once that is all done, I'll be taking over tuning & Jeff will be around if I have any problems/questions.
Parts offered......well, that's up in the air. I've got to get my resalers licence before I can get most things. At the moment I can get just about anything from AdPerformance....but that's mostly internal engine components.
